James Holden

James Holden is an English electronic music artist who started his career (at age 19) in 1999 with the trance single Horizons. James released three mix albums (Fear Of A Silver Planet, Balance 005 and more recently At The Controls), one record album (The Idiots Are Winning) and numerous singles and remixes on various record labels including of course his own record label Border Community. James is set to release a new mix album (DJ-Kicks) in May 2010.

James released remixes of a wide range of artists including Nathan Fake, Depeche Mode, Radiohead, Kirsty Hawkshaw, Misstress Barbara, Black Strobe, System 7, André Kraml, Avus, New Order, Timo Maas but also more mainstream artists such as Madonna and Britney Spears. He is now widely considered as one of the most talented and most innovative artists of the electronic music scene.

He has worked with several record labels including Lost Language, Perfecto Recordings, Positiva Recordings and more recently Silver Planet and Loaded Records. He has also collaborated with singer Julie Thompson as Holden & Thompson. In 2003, James founded his own record label Border Community which covers a wide range of music styles: from electronica and post-rock through to techno. Border Community: “Blurring the boundaries between the dancefloor and the bedroom since 2003.”

The record label now regroups some of the most talented electronic music artists of the past few years such as Nathan Fake, Extrawelt, The MFA, Petter, Fairmont and Ricardo Tobar. Border Community has released numerous high quality productions but doesn’t fit in a single music category. James Holden himself cannot be categorized in a single music category as he has played various genres over the years including trance, techno, progressive, ambient and electro.

As previously mentioned, James has released three mix albums (Fear Of A Silver Planet, Balance 005 and At The Controls), one record album (The Idiots Are Winning) as well as numerous singles and remixes and is renowned for his wide vision of music.
